The Alternatives
Done-for-you versus doing it yourself versus hiring it out
Compare the invoice and your firm's remaining work. Writing-only support leaves formatting and sending with your team; a recurring production plan includes more of those tasks. The options below have different scopes, so use them to decide which responsibilities you need covered.
Do it yourself
$14,820
illustrative annual cost, 12 editions
At four hours per edition and $300/hour, twelve editions use $14,400 of staff time. Add $35/month for software to reach $14,820. Replace these assumptions with your own hours, rate, and cadence; the example has half as many editions as our recurring plan.
Hire it out piecemeal
Request a scoped quote
writer or agency
Ask which tasks the quote covers: research, writing, design, ESP setup, and sending. Budget for the work your team keeps, including briefing, review, and coordinating any separate suppliers.
This service
$9,000
per year, 24 editions
$750 per month for 2 editions, or $9,000 over twelve months. Research, writing, design, and approved sending are included. Budget your firm's review time separately; no fixed approval duration is promised.

FAQ
Done-for-you newsletter service questions
What does the ongoing done-for-you service handle?
The $750/month plan includes 2 editions: research, verification, writing, design, setup for one ESP and one list, and scheduling and sending after explicit firm approval. Standard scope is one firm, brand, audience, newsletter, and named approver. ESP analytics remain available; there is no separate reporting deck.
Do I need to provide articles?
You supply the audience, objective, topic boundaries, voice and brand inputs. We research the edition from relevant primary sources. Existing articles and firm announcements can inform the work, but an article library is not required.
How does the first edition work?
Start with one $500 edition, delivered within seven business days after complete intake. Payment must be verified before research begins. You receive 500–700 researched words, three subject lines, preview text, one verified visual and source notes, branded HTML and plain text, and one consolidated revision. Your firm handles sending; ESP access, setup, import, scheduling, and sending are excluded from the single edition.
What happens after the single edition?
Keep the files without subscribing, order another edition, or continue within 10 calendar days after delivery. The full $500 then counts toward month one, and the single edition is that month's first edition. Pay $250 for the $750 twice-monthly plan, or $1,000 for the $1,500 weekly plan. Both plans renew monthly. Cancel before the next renewal through the hosted billing portal; partial-period refunds are not provided.
Who approves an edition before sending?
Your named approver reviews every edition and provides explicit approval before sending. Recurring clients have two business days to review and one consolidated revision round. Late approval may move the send date and does not create an additional owed edition. Legal and compliance approval remain your firm’s responsibility.
What sending support is included?
The recurring plan includes setup for one ESP and one list, followed by scheduling and sending approved editions. It does not include list building, multiple audience segments, custom automation, urgent alerts, or a performance guarantee. Additional requirements need a separate quote.
What if we need more audiences or a different scope?
Additional audiences, reviewers, compliance work, automation, or urgent coverage require a separate quote. Discuss a change before production so the written scope, research, and approval process match your requirements.
